“I am a ski racer from Girdwood, Alaska who trains at Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont. To pursue my dream of eventually making the national team and racing World Cup, I needed to improve my physical fitness, both aerobically, explosively, and strength-wise. I found Tawnia at Elite fitness, and we signed up for her personal training. She was so supportive and helpful. When I first went to her in 2021, my physical testing score (a standardized fitness test used to gauge athletic ability across the US Ski Association Athletes) was 545. Since I’ve been working with Tawnia, for the last three summers, my physical testing score increased to 650, 105 points higher, putting me in the 100th percentile for my age group nationwide. Last season, I qualified for the OPA cup, the most competitive alpine ski race in the world for the U16 age group. “Eighteen months ago, I started asking for recommendations for a good personal trainer. I am active throughout the year hiking, biking and all forms of skiing. In the summer’s, I operate a commercial fishing business in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Commercial fishing is a physically demanding job requiring both strength and stamina.
